It is with hearts full of nostalgia that we think of video games from the 2000s. Whether single-player, multiplayer or even expansions, if only one year in particular should be remembered, that’s it. the year 2007!

Year of madness
2007 saw several flagship licenses emerge. In the first-person shooter category, we can obviously talk about Call of Duty Modern Warfareof Bioshockbut also Mass Effect. The list is not exhaustive and yet, these three games have distinct strengths. Iconic multiplayer, breathtaking immersion and a story filled with new ideas, among others.
Still in the well-known licenses, Nintendo is not left out. Indeed, Super Mario Galaxy as well as Pokémon Diamond And Pearl were released the same year. First Mario game to use a symphony orchestra for its original music, Super Mario Galaxy is a unanimous success. Praised by the specialist press and gamers, it was also rewarded in 2008 and 2009 respectively with a DICE Awards (formerly called Interactive Achievement Award) and a Bafta Games Award.
Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, the first Pokémon on the Nintendo DS, is undoubtedly one of the best-known games in the series. Actually released in Japan in 2006, it was in 2007 that it arrived here. We won’t hide it from you any longer, these two versions were sold, in total, at more than 18 million copies worldwide. The title was very innovative for the license, particularly with the Internet which was available on the portable console, but above all thanks to its content and its difficulty. It is one of the latest games Pokemon considered tough, and the music undoubtedly helped make certain fights iconic.
Modern roots
A few games from this year worked so well that they still influence experiences today. Portal, Crysis but also Osu!, these games are benchmarks in their field. The first is for its story, its humor, its innovative gameplay and many other reasons that make the experience of this game unique. Very few games can put themselves on par with the opus of Valve in the hearts of the players.
Crysis is not known for the same reasons. The goal here was to create a visual experience ahead of its time. Something more than successful at the time if you had the right machine. The settings, the details in them and the ideas are particularly worked. Still today, if this production is accompanied by a few mods, it is much more beautiful than some recent games.
