Game news Awaited for more than 10 years, the sequel to one of the most notable FPS releases news… and they are not good

Some game development seems more complicated than others. While we have been waiting for it for more than 10 years now, the sequel to this extremely striking FPS is finally here. Unfortunately, this may make some people cringe.

A game with chaotic development

There are video games whose release date gets pushed back so many times that you wonder if they will ever come out. This is the case for some famous Arles players in the industry such as Skull & Bones (which should arrive in February this year), Beyond Good & Evil 2 or even Star Citizen, to name a few. If some end particularly badly (like the recent The Day Before), others still bring hope to players whose patience continues to be tested. This is the case of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, whose development is surely among the most chaotic in the industry.

Announced in 2010, the game developed by GSC Gameworld was first canceled in 2011 when the studio closed, before finally returning to the table in 2014 when they resumed service. However, GSC Gameworld being a Ukrainian studio, Development of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl was once again halted during Russia’s invasion of the country. After relocating the studio to Prague in May 2022, GSC Gameworld suffered another bad fate when their new premises went up in flames last September. Although no injuries were reported, the damage was still estimated at nearly $70,000.

A release date pushed back, but more precise!

Despite the more than chaotic development of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, the developers at GSC Gameworld have always expressed their unwavering determination to complete the project. At the time of the fire in their premises, they had explained in particular that “not even a fire will stop (them) or prevent (them) from achieving (their) final goal”. However, while the game was planned for the first part of 2024, the developers from GSC Gameworld have just revealed a new video that changes things a little.

Thirty seconds around a campfire with a little music, that’s all GSC Gameworld offers us to reassure players. If some will be a little disappointed, those most supportive of the Ukrainian studio know that it is more than enough to reignite the hype. But the major information revealed by this new video (which you can discover in our automatic player at the top of the article), is its brand new release date blocked at September 5, 2024. You would have understood it, STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl has indeed been postponed again to a later date. However, if we could take this news as a disappointment, it should be noted that the video posted on YouTube by the developers clearly indicates that this is the “Final Release Date”, or final release date. GSC Gameworld therefore seems determined to release the game on this date and no longer postpone their long-awaited sequel until then. We wish them to succeed.
