A Plague Tale Innocence given on the EGS!
Winning against Steam is not an easy thing, but when your name is Epic Games and you rely on monstrous capital (thanks to the Unreal Engine, but also Fortnite), you can afford a few particularly aggressive strategies. For once, Tim Sweeney’s firm has accustomed Internet users to go to the famous digital store every Thursday, in order to collect the free game of the week. Nothing is asked in exchange, other than having an Epic Games account, which costs absolutely nothing.
Then, at the end of each year, the Epic Games Store embarks on a period full of gifts: it is not one video game that is given per week, but one video game… per day. And this for several weeks! Enough to match the end of year celebrations and although we have already been in 2024 for several days, this daily donation continues today: for a few hours, you can therefore collect A Plague Tale Innocence at this address.
Be careful though, the title is only given for twenty-four hours and from tomorrow, Thursday January 4, 2024 at 5 p.m., it will no longer be available. However, another mystery game will replace it.
A much-loved medieval adventure
Released in 2019, A Plague Tale Innocence created a surprise: it was developed by the Bordeaux studio Asobo, which after years of dealing with adaptations or after offering the racing game Fuel in 2009, decided to tackle a new IP… and in a very different register.
Here, it’s time for infiltration and action in this adventure whose the context takes place in the middle of the Hundred Years’ War, while the Inquisition ravages France and the Black Death decimates the population. A dark and violent universe in which Amicia, the heroine, must take care of her little brother, who has fallen ill.
With its particularly polished atmosphere and successful writing, A Plague Tale Innocence is a title very popular with fans of adventure games. At JV, it received a score of 16/20 while it obtained the very good average of 81% on Metacritic. A sequel was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series in 2022, which is currently available via PlayStation Plus.
