If you are looking for a Souls-like with great freedom of movement and the ability to counter anything (even a nuclear bomb or the earth itself) then this game is for you.

By creating this Souls-like, independent developer Piro Lith gave itself a mission: to allow the player to be able to counter absolutely anything. In VA Proxy, you can protect yourself from simple monsters, from a nuclear bomb, from God himself, and even from the earth itself. More concretely, by triggering a parry just before hitting the ground, your character avoids any fall damage. This also allows him to generate an explosion and bounce forward at full speed.

When you fall from a great height, and perform a swing towards the earth, you can parry the ground, and get an explosive jump that can stack with other move options – Piro Lith

For now, only a demo (released on December 9) is available on Steam, but it is already enjoying some success. Many players have published clips become popular or they perform crazy actions allowed by the game’s great freedom of movement. For example, a little slalom in a rain of missiles (yes, it’s also possible) or “fly” while frantically and simultaneously pressing the d key attack and slide.

A simple demo for now

As this is a simple demo, it is not possible to see reviews of VA Proxy at the moment, but quite a few discussions are created on Steam. Some speak of a mix between Devil May Cry and Nier Automata. The graphic mix between simplistic settings and more detailed monsters seems to please the community, as does the music. However, some find that the sword fightwhich is at the heart of the gameplay, is a least successful aspects. If you want to experience this for yourself, you can face three mini bosses and two main bosses in this demo. First of all, sin, a dark man with one red eye. Then there is Eri (a kind of deity), a metal giant with a huge sword. A fight that could be similar to Shadow of the Colossus.

What is the history of VA Proxy?

If we refer to the Steam description of the game, we follow the story of three machines that seek freedom by “sinking into the bowels of this world”, we can learn. For the moment, it is not clear whether we let’s embody one of these three machines or if we let’s hunt. Regardless, many are eager to discover the rest of the story, which will surely be more developed with the final version of the game. For the moment, Piro Lith has not given us any clues regarding a release date.
