While the PlayStation 5 was impossible to find in stores or on the Internet, a boss offered 260 consoles to his employees! They will be able to play their highly anticipated game in the best conditions!

On September 9, 2021, a PlayStation Showcase was held, presenting the next games coming to Sony versions, including the then recent PS5. One of the titles announced was Stellar Blade, formerly Project Eve. If the latter is now expected very soon, its developer SHIFT UP had, at the time, been talked about by acquiring more than 260 of Sony’s new consolesdespite a global stock shortage.

A nice gift in the morning

As gamers around the world fought online to order the new PlayStation 5, Hyung-Tae Kim, general manager of SHIFT UP, gave one to each of his 260 employees. This gift was intended to celebrate and congratulate its developers for the announcement of Stellar Blade, telling them that they will be able to play the fruits of their labor in the best conditions. This gift of nearly $130,000 would, moreover, have been directly sent by Sony themselves, making Internet users react. We could then read messages expressing that it was “impossible to have a PS5, while a second-rate studio manages to receive more than 200”, while some questioned Sony’s decision.

The console had already been out for almost a year at that point. But while Bloomberg assured that it would still be extremely difficult to get your hands on the machine for Christmas, Toshiba was planning until 2023, due in particular to the persistent shortage of electronic semiconductors. Despite everything, this out of stock did not prevent Sony from selling nearly 10 million PS5s at the end of July 2021.

Off-peak year

Stellar Bladenext PS5 exclusive, promises to give you a gaming experience as thrilling as Devil May Cry and Bayonetta, all with a futuristic twist. This is one of the only exclusives of the Sony version, with Rise of the Ronin, for a year 2024 announced as rather calmimpression corroborated by Hiroki Totoki, big boss of PlayStation.

When it comes to first-party games, we seek to focus on producing high-quality works and developing game services. Even though major projects are in development, we do not plan to release new titles from well-established major franchises in the next fiscal year – Hiroki Totoki

However, and even if it is not likely to change the situation, a new title has been filed, on February 12, by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Named “Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet”, this project seems entirely new, causing a massive reaction from players in need of exclusives. Other games like the Until Dawn remaster or the FPS Concord are expected for 2024, but there is little chance that they will satisfy the pro-PlayStation.
