The surprise at the start of the year is losing more and more players. A situation far from being alarming for the studio.

Released on January 19, 2024, Palworld generated unprecedented enthusiasm, bringing together millions of players around the world in just a few days.. Developed by Pocketpair, this action-adventure game immediately captivated players with its concept close to Pokémon, but which adds new features and addictive gameplay. Immersing players in a fantasy world where they can raise and train creatures called “Pals”, Palworld quickly won the hearts of millions of players.

Palworld in trouble

But now, despite its initial success, Palworld has been the subject of discussion recently as it saw a dramatic drop of almost 2 million players over the past few days. This sudden drop has sparked concerns about the future of the game, but the developers seem to be keeping calm in the face of this situation. They quickly responded by announcing major updates aimed at improving the gaming experience and addressing player concerns, demonstrating their commitment to the community Palworld.

A logical fall of players

Let us remember, however, that the success of Palworld was a surprise for everyone. In a press release published on the X network, the community manager of PocketPair already expressed his astonishment:

In May 2023, I was convinced that Palworld could cross the 50,000 player mark. Anything above that seemed unattainable, and I certainly didn’t expect the player count to reach millions.

No one saw this near-global craze coming, not even the developers who were quickly caught off guard by this wave of players. And just as quickly as they arrived, many players suddenly jumped ship from Palworld. A situation that could have worried the teams in the game, but the opposite happened. Still in the press release on X, the CM develops: “ If you’re still playing Palworld, we love you. If you’re no longer playing Palworld, we still love you and hope you come back for round two when you’re ready”. The game still records a certain number of simultaneous connections and it is not about to stop being talked about.
