While the game has been out for over a year, players continue to find secrets in Hogwarts Legacy even today. Today, it’s a touching tribute that went completely unnoticed that the internet has finally (re)discovered.

Unquestionably, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy is one of last year’s biggest hits with more than 22 million copies sold in 2023. It must be said that by offering a AAA experience on one of the most popular licenses of all time, everything came together to be a hit for Warner Bros. But while Avalanche Studios’ project has been played by millions of players, certain details have gone unnoticed by everyone. This is the case of this touching easter egg which has only just been brought up to date.

The disappearance of an actor adored by fans

Without too many surprises, Hogwarts Legacy is a game that is full of details from the Harry Potter films. Beyond taking place in the same universe, the title does not hesitate to put small references and other nods to things that will only take place most of the time in this universe. But as for who we’re going to be interested in today, it’s going to be Robbie Coltrane.

If this name doesn’t ring a bell, he is actually the interpreter of Hagrid in the Harry Potter film saga, one of the characters most appreciated by fans due to the touching relationship with the eponymous hero. Clearly, Hagrid has everything of a benevolent uncle towards Harry throughout the saga. Unfortunately, the actor left us in October 2022 following numerous health complications. If the community of Harry Potter fans was then in mourning, the developers of Avalanche were determined to pay tribute to him within the game itself.

A simple tribute

So, near the hut which is located on the edge of the large lake in Hogwarts, we find a small tomb decorated with a hippogriff. The latter refers to Buck, Hagrid’s hippogriff which we first see in the third Harry Potter book and film, namely Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. So, by this wink and the presence of the grave next to the hut where Hagrid stays in the feature film, it is a direct homage to Robbie Coltrane who died some time before the game’s release. A beautiful easter egg, simply dedicated to the memory of one of the favorite characters of the saga and especially to the one who played him for years.
