It’s January 29, 2024, and it’s time to offer you the JV recap which looks back at the sometimes amusing, sometimes surprising information from recent days. Good reading !

Summary

  • A little Hades, a little skating, and bam, it’s Helskate
  • No objection to his return!
  • More Resident Evil at heart than the latest Resident Evil
  • A JRPG that will no longer be forgotten!
  • “Leroy, brush your teeth and go to bed”

A little Hades, a little skating, and bam, it’s Helskate

Phantom Coast studio has announced that Helskate, a roguelite that borrows as much from Hades as it does from Tony Hawk, will enter early access on February 15. The goal is obviously to take advantage of community feedback to improve the game. As for the game itself, Helskate is inspired by skateboarding games with tricks, grinds and wall runs that generate combos , making moving around both fun and useful against opponents. It also has the usual characteristics of the genre, with the possibility of keeping improvements thanks to tattoos. If you want to give it a try, know that a free demo is available on Steam right now. Phantom Coast plans to keep its game in early access for a short year before the release of 1.0.

No objection to his return!

While Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy has just been released on our consoles and PCs, Capcom seems not to put aside the production of new episodes linked to the famous franchise. Indeed, in an interview given to 4Gamer and taken up by Nintendoeverything, Kenichi Hashimoto said the franchise will continue. “For now there is nothing to say, but we have gained a lot of knowledge about the RE Engine. I can say that the Ace Attorney series will not stop, so, I think you can look forward to what’s to come.” Capcom, which seems satisfied with the sales of its series as well as the critical reception of Ace Attorney, should therefore continue to shower us with eccentric investigations.

More Resident Evil at heart than the latest Resident Evil

Fans of old-fashioned survival horror, rejoice. Alisa: Developer’s Cut attempts to propel us into the second half of the 1990s with a horror game that does everything possible to remind us of the sensations of the first Resident Evil on PS1. Here, the characters move slowly, the settings are pre-calculated and the camera angles are there to give us the impression of being in a real horror film. Scheduled to release on February 6, 2024 on Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Switch, Alisa: Developer’s Cut is an improved version of Alisa, released on PC in 2021, which received a lot of positive reviews.

A JRPG that will no longer be forgotten!

Do you know Hilltop? This is a group of people who translate Japanese games into English, in order to allow as many players as possible to discover titles that have often fallen into the limbo of “playhistory”. Last November, Boku no Natsuyasumi 2 (My Summer Vacation 2) benefited from an English translation that some fans had been waiting for for more than two decades. For its next translation, Hilltop has gone even further into video game limbo by offering to bring English text to Rowdy Princess, a JRPG released on PS2 forgotten by everyone, directed by Shoji Masuda (Linda Cubed, Tengai Makyō II: Manjimaru). The trailer broadcast makes you want to discover it! For the moment, no release date has been specified.

See Tekken 8 on GOG

“Leroy, brush your teeth and go to bed”

The Tekken madness currently raging on the Internet, thanks in part to the release of the last part, which is excellent, takes us to this video unusual. The TikToker we see explains that her father named his children inspired by… Tekken characters. This fan of the series therefore called his daughter Nina, and his two sons Jin and Hwoarang. In the comments, a user explains that he named his eldest son Dante, and that his youngest son is named Virgil, obviously in reference to the Capcom game Devil May Cry. With 32 characters, including some new ones like Azucena, Reina and Victor (played by Vincent Cassel), we are convinced that Tekken 8 will give ideas to other (future) dads.
