During Netflix Geeked Week last November, the American giant made some great video game announcements! Beyond offering and developing its own creations, Netflix manages to convince big titles to join its catalog of video games. After three parts of Grand Theft Auto, this is a size of the action game which will be available to all subscribers within a few days.
Netflix is making progress in video games: increasing results and titles that catch the eye
It’s been a few months now since Netflix has given a big boost to the development of its catalog. Obviously, we are not only referring to films, series and documentaries: there are also video games which hold an increasingly important part in the portfolio of the American SVOD giant. It took a long time to bear fruit, but the results, published at the start of the year, are encouraging. Casually, as Netflix proves with some figures, the year 2023 marked a stage in this expansion in video games.
The main witness to this improvement, this is a three-fold increase in user engagement. It must be remembered that the beginnings were extremely difficult since only 1% of subscribers took the time to play the titles included in the subscription on a daily basis. If this trend is gradually reversing, it is because the American giant is continuing its negotiations with some of the most popular studios of the moment in the hope of developing a port of their creations. One of the games of 2021 is coming to Netflix: Hades’ Hell opens its doors to us!
This was one of Netflix’s big promises for the year 2024, and it is about to come true as confirmed by the social networks of the SVOD platform. Starting March 19, the excellent video game Hadesmixing rogue-lite, RPG and action, will be available for free to Netflix subscribers in the Games section found on the mobile application. Although it did not win the title of games of the year upon its release, Hades still won the statuette for best game at the BAFTA Games Awards.

Nevertheless, we are curious to see the way in which this portage was handled! Given that Supergiant Games’ title is particularly nervous, it seems quite complex to adapt it to touch controls. That being said, Hades offers very high visibility which comes at the right time since the sequel, logically named Hades 2should arrive in the coming months – between April and June -, in early access on Steam and the Epic Games Store. When we know that the first game reaped the score of 18/20 in our columnswe can’t wait to see if the developers will manage to repeat this feat!
