Like Death Stranding, Silent Hill was one of the candidates for the PS5 State of Play organized by Sony last night. Ahead of the event, it was difficult to know which game was going to be presented by Konami. But, surprise, these were two titles which were presented through unpublished videos.

Silent Hill: a new free game available now

The Silent Hill saga celebrated its 25th anniversary yesterday and yet it is she who spoils the players! One of the most famous horror video game series of all time took advantage of the event organized by Sony to show off not one but two titles. The first is called Silent Hill: The Short Message and is available… now exclusively on PlayStation 5. Here is its synopsis:

Following messages from her friend Maya, Anita finds herself in a ruined building, infamous for its rumors of suicides. Drawn inside, Anita soon finds her sense of reality crumbling when she discovers bizarre, otherworldly spaces haunted by a twisted monster. Maya’s message was clear: “you can’t leave until you find it.” But what is Anita really looking for?

In addition to being available now, this Silent Hill: The Short Message is completely free! Enough to constitute a good opportunity for fans (or not) of the genre to get started with the series, before the possible release of the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Silent Hill 2 Remake: a trailer but still no release date

Because yes, the other Silent Hill game presented during the State of Play on January 31 was obviously the remake of Silent Hill 2. The original opus, dear to the hearts of many players, was presented once again by Konami through a trailer illustrating the combat for 90 seconds We find James there, in the city to which the game owes its name, sailing between the enemies (and blocking shotgun bullets at them in the process) in the hope of finding his late wife.

This trailer also serves as a reminder that this remake of Silent Hill 2 is developed by Bloober Team (The Medium, among others) on the Unreal Engine 5 engine. It is also planned for PC and, unfortunately, still does not display any release date.
