Game news Star Wars Outlaws: a very special mission awaits players, but on condition of breaking the bank
Star Wars Outlaws continues to generate interest. After discovering that the game would require an Internet connection to install, we now learn that a special mission will only be available to those who are willing to stretch the credit card.
Jabba’s Wager: A Challenge for Players
Announced for August 30, 2024, the arrival of Star Wars Outlaws was already accompanied by the promise of two narrative extensions via a Season Pass, as well as various cosmetics, as indicated on the game’s official website.
However, something new is added to this offer: an exclusive mission called “Jabba’s Gamble”, available upon release of the game. Here is an official overview of this mission:
As Kay assembles her team for a heist in Canto Bight, a special request comes from Jabba the Hutt himself. Apparently, ND-5 has a debt to Jabba dating back several years, and the intergalactic mobster has come to claim his dues…
However, this mission does not constitute free additional content available from day one. To access it, players will have to pay a minimum of €109.99 for the Gold edition, or €129.99 for the Ultimate edition. Note that the Gold edition offers cosmetics, the famous Season Pass previously mentioned, as well as early access to the game, three days before the official release date. As for the Ultimate edition, it offers the same advantages as the Gold, with the added bonus of the “Elusive Infiltrator Pack” and the “Sabacc Ace Pack”, each providing cosmetics such as new outfits.
Star Wars: Players Rebellion
Today, the availability of a Season Pass upon launch of a game is not surprising, providing access to additional content to come via DLC. However, the mission “Jabba’s Gamble” constitutes content accessible from the day of release, reserved only for those who have invested a little more than others.
Originally, this type of practice was more common for cosmetics, but this is an entire portion of the game. Thus, this announcement is already causing a stir among many players who will feel wronged for having opted for the standard edition compared to those who chose the Gold and Ultimate editions.
Star Wars Outlaws is expected for August 30, 2024 on PS5, Xbox Series and PC.
