Last night’s Xbox Developer Direct allowed us to learn more about Ara: History Untold, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, Visions of Mana and Avowed. But the highlight of the show was obviously the first presentation of Indiana Jones gameplay.

Hat !

It was expected around the corner, and it looks very promising! The game Indiana Jones from MachineGames, developers of the latest episodes of Wolfenstein, showed itself in a long video where its creators were able to express themselves on the most important elements of the game. As the first information predicted, it will indeed be a title in first person view integrating passages in the third person (contextual actions, cutscenes). Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle will mix exploration, infiltration, action and puzzles, with hand-to-hand combat but also with firearms. Like what we see in the different films, the whip will be a versatile tool useful both during exploration and action phases. According to the developers, the tricky puzzles as well as the annex temples will be there. We are promised gameplay that is sufficiently permissive to let us decide on the best solutions to a problem.

The software will put us in the shoes of the famous adventurer, in the guise of Harrison Ford, for an epic which will take place between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. Indiana Jones and the Elder Circle takes place in 1937. The story begins with a burglary in the middle of the night at Marshall College. This seemingly innocuous flight will take the explorer to the four corners of the world.from the forgotten temples of Sukhothai to the pyramids of Egypt, the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas and much more” according to Bethesda. Indy will especially have to unravel one of the greatest mysteries in history, that of the Ancient Circle. On his way, Indy will meet young Gina, an investigative journalist. Together, they will have to thwart the diabolical plans of Emmerich Voss, the antagonist of the title. How long will we have to wait before putting on our adventurer hat? Not so long ago, Indiana Jones and the Elder Circle being released this year exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

“I’m like bad luck, I arrive where I’m not expected”

Packed with nods to previous installments of the saga, the trailer shown during the Developer Direct propelled Indiana Jones to first place among topics discussed on X/Twitter in the United States. The debate over first-person view versus third-person view has ignited the social network. Another subject that was particularly discussed was that of Indy’s voice. Although the character bears the features of Harrison Ford, it is Troy Baker, known for having played almost every video game protagonist in the world, who lends his voice.

However, we, French players, will have the chance to benefit from the voice that rocked our tender years. It was through a video broadcast on the Bethesda France account (visible in autoplay) that we learned that Richard Darbois, the French voice of Harrison Ford, will voice our good old Indy here in Le Cercle Ancien. This should give us the impression of being in the company of “true” Indiana Jones, right? Good news for our ears never arriving alone, Gordy Haab will be in charge of the music. He is known for having worked on several Star Wars games, Halo Wars 2, and Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings in 2009. The circle has come full circle.
