Baldur’s Gate 3 may be over, but Larian still has great projects to show us in a few years.

Instead, the head of the studio, Swen Vincke, tells journalists about GameSpot an idea its team had even before development of Baldur’s Gate 3 began: “ This is part of a larger plan I have in place for what I call the Greatest RPG that will dwarf them all.”. The boss nevertheless adds that it is such a long and complex plan that it will not yet be carried out in the studio’s next game.

I think there are technologies that we don’t have yet. I don’t know what the next-gen specs will be, but I hope we get something that gets us close.

For now, Vincke doesn’t want to say too much about what happens next, he only hopes that development doesn’t drag on like it did for Baldur’s Gate 3.”Six years is too long. We didn’t want it to last six years“. And to add: “I think if we could do something in four years we would be happy”. By 2028, we may therefore have something new from Larian.

The next game could still follow the early access model as developers are used to doing with the Destiny saga and Baldur’s Gate 3.

We’re focusing on creating a lot of the content, we’re moving into Early Access, we’re seeing what players think, if they agree with us. Then we move forward and see what happens. But the creative process involves a lot of discovery, and we’re in the pre-production stages, so we don’t know exactly what we’re going to do yet. We know the general direction.


A Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC could have arrived
