Recently, one of the actors from Batman: Arkham Origins explained that a Batman game was canceled following leaks years ago. However, this seems not to be the case as one of the most reliable sources in the industry tells us.
Does talking to you about Project Sabbath mean anything to you? If not, it was‘a Batman game project which leaked in 2019 which was to feature Damian Wayne, son of Bruce and Robin in his spare time, in the costume of the Dark Knight developed by WB Games Montreal who then made Batman Arkham Origins. Recently, Josh Keaton, who plays Robin in this episode, said that he had to play Damian in this game which is not part of the Arkhamverse. During a live on Twitch, here’s what he says:
I would love to have a chance to play Batman. I almost did it. There was a game I was going to be in that I was going to play Batman in. This wasn’t Bruce Wayne Batman, this was a different Batman. (…) Everything about the game was leaked on a forum and they ended up shutting down the project. I had done three or four sessions, and that was the end of that game.
According to the actor, the game was therefore canceled because of these leaks five years ago. However, this does not seem true according to a leading industry figure.

A game with Damian Wayne as Batman canceled
Recently on X (formerly Twitter), Jason Schreier, journalist at Bloomberg and one of the most reliable sources in the video game industry, spoke out about the actor’s statements. In a post, he writes:
This story is making a lot of noise, but it’s not true – WB Montreal’s game with Damian Wayne was not canceled due to leaks.
For now, the journalist does not comment on the real reasons which led to the cancellation of the project. On the other hand, in response to some user questions, he said that he hopes to be able to go into detail “at some point” but that it will not be on Twitter.
While waiting to discover the whole truth about this story, it is quite interesting to point out that before this famous Project Sabbath, Warner Bros Games Montreal was working on a Suicide Squad game which then had nothing to do with Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League which was coming out soon. Following the abandonment of this project, the studio ended up working on Gotham Knights which actually saw the light of day with Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood… and Robin.
