Star Wars Jedi Survivor was released last year and unfortunately for it, did not win any awards at the famous Game Awards: that was without counting on the iconic Grammy Awards, where the Electronic Arts game walked away with a prestigious trophy .

A complicated start…

In 2019, Respwan Entertainment scored a major milestone by delivering Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order : an action-adventure game with Souls-like vibes, but also with platforming and a strong narrative component. A truly successful bet since in addition to having seduced the press, it above all won over the public with impressive sales scores: more than twenty million players were counted in 2021! In fact, the title even somewhat put the Star Wars machine back on track for single-player video games, proving to Electronic Arts that yes, there was a future for the license other than in multiplayer FPS.

In short, Stig Agmussen, the director of the game, then confirmed that he wanted to make Star Wars Jedi a trilogy: this is how Star Wars Jedi Survivor was born last year (still led by the same man, who at the time had already directed a certain God of War III), using the formula of its predecessor with a certain quality. At JV, it received a nice 17/20 and on Metacritic, a very satisfactory average of 85%.

The only downside? A rather catastrophic launch with worrying technology (especially on consoles) and a mess of bugs which made the experience unplayable for many. A real bad buzz which has settled over time and over the updates, but enough to somewhat tarnish the reputation of the project among many players who bought it full price, i.e. 79.99 euros. Today, the situation has been corrected, fortunately.

….but a reward at stake

Despite its complicated start, Star Wars Jedi Survivor was able to turn things around. It remains nonetheless an excellent game and as such, he was nominated in two categories at the 2023 Game Awards which were held in December: that of the best acting performance for Cameron Monaghan (the interpreter of Cal Kestis, the hero of the game to whom he lends his features) and that of the best action/adventure game. Without success, since there was a failure.

However, the legendary Grammy Awards recently held their 66th ceremony, striving to reward the greatest of the American music industry. And for now, there was the “Best Original Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media” category, in which Stepehn Barton and Gordy Haab were nominated for their work on the Star Wars Jedi Survivor OST… and they won!

For the Grammys, Star Wars Jedi Survivor therefore wins the trophy for best video game soundtrack of the yearthen ahead of the other nominees who are:
