Elden Ring, whose DLC trailer was recently revealed, is popular with players around the world. The year of its release, it even won the GOTY prize at the Game Awards and therefore became the best game of the year 2022. Today, it continues to be talked about, but not always for the right reasons.

Considered by some to be the best open world game in history and adored by fans of the Dark Souls series, Elden Ring is not without its flaws. Indeed, bugs related to “runes” (this is the experience in Elden Ring) remain to this dayto the point of pushing some players to start their game from scratch.

86 million runes in an instant

A week ago, user Esbidee posted a screenshot of one of his games on the Elden Ring subreddit. As he invades another player’s world and kills that player, he is rewarded with nearly 86 million runeswhere a maximum level character should only drop 355,000 at most.

According to the community, hackers are the cause of the problem. Indeed, the only way to gain that many runes is to take down a player with over-boosted stats. When these cheaters die, the game offers a reward based on their experience level, and since the hackers are often at the maximum level (level 713), this corresponds to a gain of approximately 86 million runes.

Hackers in Elden Ring?

Similar anomalies have already been identified, however, their cause is not always the same. Two years ago, a player reported the bug in question by posting a screenshot of his newly earned 86 million runes. Shortly after, a second person received the same reward simply by invading a world, when another player left at the same time. These cases continued to be talked about until barely a week ago, testifying to the continued presence of hackers on the servers, despite the risk of banning. The flaw still does not seem to be closed today, but could well become so in the near future when the DLC is released on June 21 of this year.
