Game news While it is an ultra peaceful video game, these players are being badly harassed…

Players of one of the most peaceful titles in video games are being harassed because of a simple request. Streamers are even attacked while fans of the game organize a boycott until the studio takes action.

Doxxed for a pronoun

Stardew Valley LGBTQ+ players asked game creator Eric Barone (also known as ConcernedApe) if he was possible to include different pronouns to the character creator of the title. This addition would allow non-binary people to feel better represented in the gamebut it is obviously not to everyone’s taste since many other players started harassing them calling into question their request.

Various trans streamers have had their Twitch chats polluted with insults or even are doxxed, forcing them to take a forced break from activity and the privatization of their various social networks. While some call for calm, while the matter settles down, others are rekindling the controversy, notably various content creators denouncing the request as “a crazy idea”.

A heavy silence

At the time of writing this article, Eric Barone has still not commented on the controversy who ignited the community of his game. A silence that displeases victims of harassment, who summon him to react. Different streamers denounce this behavior, explaining “no longer worry about whether ConcernedApe will take care of pronouns in the game” but simply want “that he condemns the transphobia and violence against members of the trans community that he acquired by creating Stardew Valley”.

Due to ConcernedApe’s silence on the lack of gender inclusion and the amount of harassment our friends in the Stardew community (especially the LGBTQ+ community) are experiencing, it doesn’t seem right to me to continue streaming or play Stardew Valley. It truly breaks my heart to see how many people are suffering from this situation. – @maliaraestreams on X

Others even say they are boycotting the game as long as the said creator does not take his responsibilities, specifying “no longer play Stardew Valley or create content about the game” as long as its developer remains silent, calling this behavior “disappointing”.
