Netflix also wants its great SF series
We can certainly criticize Netflix on many aspects (prices, account sharing policy, series cancellations, etc.). But impossible not to recognize that the streaming service is the one that is the most generous in terms of additions to its catalog and, often, ambition. Witness one of the trailers released this weekend during its Tudum 2023 event: that of the expected SF series 3 Body Problem (The three-body problem in VF).
Like The Expanseat Prime Video or Foundation at Apple TV+, Netflix seems to be giving itself the means to achieve its ambitions. As impressive as it is enigmatic, the first trailer above all highlights who is behind the show: David Benioff and DB Weiss, who are none other than the creators of Game Of Thrones. They are also supported by Alexander Woo (True Blood), while the set is inspired by the eponymous novel by Cixin Liu.
Goodbye 2023, hello January 2024
In this 2008 Chinese novel, the first of an acclaimed trilogy, we travel to China in the 1960s. It is about the first contact with an extraterrestrial race and the many consequences that follow. On the casting side, lovers of Game Of Thrones will probably have recognized John Bradley, while fairly well-known heads like Benedict Wong (Wong in the MCU), Jovan Adepo (babylon) or Eiza González (Baby Driver) are there to accompany the main headliner, Jess Hong (Brokenwood).
Initially expected for this year, 3 Body Problem will finally arrive in January 2024 on Netflix. In any case, if the writers’ strike doesn’t postpone the release a little more.
