Game of Thrones: "Game of Thrones" star would support new ending

The last season of "Game of Thrones" was not exactly a success for many fans. The actor Charles Dance is also critical.

House Lannister stabs David Benioff (49) and D. B. Weiss (49), the makers of "Game of Thrones", in the back – at least when it comes to the end of the series. The British actor Charles Dance (73), who played Lord Tywin Lannister in the fantasy hit, has now said that he would like to sign a petition calling for a new finale for the saga.

Great writers, but …

"I think David and Dan have raised the bar when it comes to TV scriptwriting," Dance explains diplomatically in an interview with the website popculture.com. The two are "phenomenal". Beware, spoilers: The fact that the whole thing ends with a committee was disappointing for him. He just thought, "Hmm, no. I would say I was a little unimpressed."

When asked about the fan petition, which has now been signed by more than 1.8 million people, Dance explains that he has not heard of it yet. However, he would support the request: "If there was a petition, I would sign it."

Jaime Lannister almost wanted to join in too

His acting colleague Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (50), who played Jaime Lannister, also recently spoke about the petition. "Of course I heard about it," explains Coster-Waldau to the industry magazine "Variety". He thought the petition was "hilarious" and almost donated for it. Everyone wanted something different for the final. The actor believes that the fans also felt a certain fear that it could simply be over now. However, there is still a "large community" around the series.

Coster-Waldau thinks the end for Jamie Lannister is okay. "How do you end such a story", he asks, but then evades it. "Let's talk about it in ten years, then we can talk about it." Now the topic is a little too fresh. "Game of Thrones" is based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books by George R.R. Martin (71).
