Game of Thrones: good news for House of the Dragon, bad news for the Jon Snow series

In an interview with Deadline, Francesca Orsi, the director of drama series at HBO, expanded on the Game of Thrones universe and revealed a lot of information about the future of the franchise.

While House of the Dragon Season 2 is currently filming in Spain, HBO’s Drama Series Director Francesca Orsi is revealing a lot of information about the George RR Martin saga.

In an interview with Deadlineshe claims that the production of season 3 will begin “faster”, with less waiting than between the second and the first season.

About a possible season 4, she explains: “Nothing has been finalized yet, it is still under discussion. George RR Martin and Ryan Condal [les cocréateurs, ndlr] are going to meet after the writers’ strike. They had already planned to meet before the strike to find out how the series was going to end.

Are we going for four seasons? I don’t think, from my point of view, it could be less than four, but it could be more. We’ll see.”

Other information, that of the spin-off centered on the character of Jon Snow, interpreted in the original series by Kit Harrington. The director says the project is still in the early stages of development, adding: “We are working extensively with the authors to obtain a potential green light, but at the moment, no, it is not..”

What about the other spin-off projects announced after Game of Thrones season 8? Francesca Orsi announces that none of them are able to go into production. She adds that some of these projects don’t even have scripts – a situation that is unlikely to change as long as the writers’ strike continues.

The release of House of the Dragon Season 2 should not be impacted by this move. The magazine variety reveals that the producers would have pressured the screenwriters so that they could return all the scripts before the start of the strike.

House of the Dragon Season 2 is expected in 2024.
