“My heart is heavy and broken into millions of pieces” wrote his companion Ben Daniels, himself an actor, on Instagram, announcing the death of his partner. “Ian was diagnosed with cancer last December. I put my career on hold to care for him, but neither of us thought it would go this quickly. He was my rock for 30 years. We spoke to each other every day even when we weren’t together”.
