This January 1, 2023, many things are changing. Among them, 64 HBO series are leaving the OCS platform in France. “Game of Thrones”, “The Wire”, “Chernobyl”, “Sex and the City” or even “True Detective”: for the moment, they are not available anywhere in France.
The media Numerama listed some 64 American HBO series that left the SVoD OCS platform at the start of the year. At issue: the end of the broadcasting contracts between HBO and OCS, which ended with 2022. Among the series that remain on the service, there are Perry Mason, Betty, The White Lotus or House of the Dragon.

For the moment, you can very well buy or rent each series on VOD, although the price is much higher. Another possible solution: use a VPN to access foreign catalogs where the series that have disappeared from the French catalog are still to be found.

But the latter could also negotiate series by series with different services. The question also arises for the HBO series The Last of Us, adapted from the video game series. It must be released on HBO in the United States on January 15, for legal distribution in France from January 16. But for the moment, no platform has the broadcasting rights for France.
