With "Tales of Dunk and Egg" a second prequel series for the TV hit "Game of Thrones" is said to be in development.

"Game of Thrones" fans can obviously look forward to more adventures from Westeros. A new spin-off is allegedly under development at the station HBO, as "Variety" and "Deadline" report. The project, which is said to be in an early stage, is therefore a prequel series for "Game of Thrones".

The prequel would reportedly be based on George R. R. Martin's (72) fantasy novels "Tales of Dunk and Egg". The story takes place 90 years before the events of Martin's book series "A Song of Ice and Fire", which served as the basis for "Game of Thrones". "Tales of Dunk and Egg" revolves around Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and the future King Aegon V Targaryen (Egg).

"House of the Dragon" starts production

Before "Game of Thrones" ended with season eight in spring 2019, HBO announced that some prequel ideas were in development. This included a project with Naomi Watts (52), for which a pilot episode was filmed, but was then not given the green light. It was different for "House of the Dragon", the production of the series, which takes place 300 years before the events of "Game of Thrones", is due to begin this year. With the British actor Paddy Considine (47) as King Viserys Targaryen I, there is allegedly already a leading actor for the TV show, which could start in 2022.
