Gamescom 2022: The Lords of Fallen is paying for a slamming trailer for a comeback?

A little surprise for fans of Souls games with a license that went through a bit when it was released in 2014, Lords of the Fallen. Indeed, the title allowed players to embark on an action-RPG adventure where the hero, Harkyn, goes to war against the god Adyr in order to save the kingdom of men threatened by imminent extinction.

The Lords of the Fallen: Reboot or sequel?

Unfortunately for the developers of the CI Games studio, the game was not flawless and the feedback from the press and the players was not very good… However, the Gamescom 2022 makes us the surprise to put the license back on the front of the stage with a trailer for the less interrogative since we see the name “Lords of the Fallen”, but without any mention of a 2 or a subtitle which can let us think of a new one in the line of the first episode.

It is therefore legitimate to ask the following question: are we dealing with a sequel or a reboot of the series following the failure of the first game released in 2014. The absence of a description during the reveal of Lords of the Fallen this evening makes us think that it could be a reboot with a new protagonist and a totally different world. Which wouldn’t be a bad thing when you know that some licenses have already tried to start from scratch when a game was not satisfactory.

A release date in sight?

For now The Lords of the Fallen has no release date but reveals the platforms on which it will be released and we are pleasantly surprised to see that the game will not be crossgen! It is scheduled to come out on PC (Steam), PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. We are rather eager on our side to see more, because according to the trailer a game mechanic centered around a lantern which can resuscitate our character as well as steal the soul of our enemies can turn out to be an idea very original and cool to play.

If the game follows its predecessor we should be faced with a title that offers a high challenge where the requirement and rigor will be the key to success. Because yes, Lords of the Fallen, despite its flaws, offered a very difficult gaming experience with good RPG notions to customize our character as well as very interesting Boss fights for lovers of challenges of all kinds. We just hope that the rigidity of the first game will not be found in this reboot or this sequel and that the technical problems will be less present.

In any case, we meet soon to find out more about the game and we will not fail to inform you when a release date or more information will come to shed light on what is really The Lords of the Fallen !
