Gard: the day after Christmas, firefighters make a disgusting discovery in an air duct

The firefighters of Nîmes were called for a particularly terrible intervention this Monday, December 26…

And Merry Christmas! Firefighters are called in for all sorts of interventions, which obviously do not concern not always other human beings… and this is what happened to them once again on Monday, December 26 in Nîmes, in the Gard. The firefighters were called because the owners ofa particularly dangerous and frightening animal lost his trace in an inhabited building. As our colleagues from France Bleu report, it was therefore on the seventh floor of a building in Nîmes that the firefighters intervened to find … a python.

On Twitter, the Gard Fire Brigade and in particular the unit specialized in animal intervention who left in response then posted a video of the python about a meter back in his vivarium. The latter had disappeared on December 15, and is therefore stayed 11 days hidden in an air duct of the building where its owners live. Fortunately, more fear than harm for the owners of this rather unusual pet, whose disappearance must have caused some fright.

Thousands of snakes in France

The python, like many other animals such as lizards or spiders, are part of what has been designated as the NAC, the new pets. Far from the traditional dog, cat or guinea pig, the new pets stand out for their originality, but also for their dangerousness. Still according to France Bleu, their number is estimated at around 5 million in France, including 3.5 million small mammals and 1.4 million other animals, including reptiles and arachnids. Namely that a certificate of capacity is compulsory for the sale and sometimes also for the relaxation of this kind of animals, in particular pythons over 3 meters long.
