VSThese are images of nameless violence. On the morning of Wednesday January 11, an individual armed with a bladed weapon attacked six people at the Gare du Nord. A 36-year-old man is seriously injured, the others only slightly. This Thursday, our colleagues from BFMTV revealed the CCTV images, on which we can see the assailant take action. Equipped with a “metal hook whose longest part ends in a point”, according to a press release from the Paris prosecutor’s office, the suspect attacks a first victim on the forecourt of the station.

At the level of the entrance doors, he beats up a first traveler, who collapses on the ground. Several people try to intervene, but the assailant continues to knock his victim to the ground. His journey continues in the hall of the station where another surveillance camera films his arrest. Under an escalator, at least two police officers, one of whom was in civilian clothes, neutralized the suspect with three shots. Hit twice in the chest and once in the arm, he was then transferred to the hospital where he was operated on before being placed in police custody on Wednesday evening.

The identity of the individual is still being verified at this time. Aged 22, he arrived in France three years ago, is already known to justice for common law acts and is subject to an obligation to leave French territory (OQTF), told Agence France -Presse (AFP) a police source. According to the Paris prosecutor, Laure Beccuau, he “could” be born in Algeria or Libya.
