The navigation expert Garmin has released an extensive feature update for its smartwatches, which, among other things, brings you a few outdoor functions.

According to a press release from the manufacturer, the first quarterly update of the year called Q1 includes the following features for selected computer watches:

  • Ski touring and splitboard apps 2.0: Watches with the update will now automatically detect when you are ascending or descending. In addition, the watch shows the time between applying and removing the skin as a transition time.
  • Jet lag guide: You will receive tips on sleep patterns, light and activities to minimize the effects of jet lag. To do this, you have to enter relevant data into the Garmin Connect app.
  • Wakesport activities: You can now record statistics for waterskiing, wakeboarding, wakesurfing and tubing.
  • Sailing expedition: The watch should now save battery for a multi-day sailing activity. It does this by switching off sensors and accessories when recording sailing activity and only recording your GPS position once an hour.
  • Physio TrueUp 2.0: Now you can sync more physiological data between multiple devices from the manufacturer. If you have several devices, it is also possible to define one device as the master.
  • Sleep Score: Users of the vivomove Sport, Style or Luxe should be able to better assess their sleep with this function.
  • Improvement of the sunrise and sunset widget: The widget gives you the daily sunrise and sunset times. You can also see the position of the sun in the sky.

The selected smartwatches include the Enduro 2, the second generation epix, fēnix 7, Instinct 2, MARQ (2nd gen), tactix and quatix 7 as well as the watches from the vivomove series.
