A minor was taken into custody after the tear gas attack on LFI MP Raquel Garrido and several of her activists in Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis) during the legislative campaign, we learned on Wednesday June 29 with the Bobigny prosecutor’s office.

The 15-year-old teenager was arrested on Tuesday evening by police officers from the Drancy police station, a source close to the investigation said. A tear gas canister was found at his home near the Marcel Cachin estate, where the attack took place, according to the same source, who added that the teenager had been found thanks to the city’s video surveillance.

People seriously injured

On June 16, during the in-between round of the legislative elections, Raquel Garrido was circulating “in a car with a sound system to call for the vote (…) when an activist from Jean-Christophe Lagarde (the outgoing deputy to whom she was opposed) fired tear gas, severely injuring the people in the car“, she told AFP. The elected official had posted a video on Twitter in which an individual, armed with a tear gas canister, ran near a stationary car and sprayed its occupants.

The boss of the UDI Jean-Christophe Lagarde, who gave up his seat as deputy to Raquel Garrido after the second round, had denied any involvement. “I named an assistant to Aude Lagarde, mayor of Drancy (and wife of Jean-Christophe Lagarde) as the author of the instructions given to the young man“, told AFP Raquel Garrido, who is waiting”let all be judged“.

Last week, Raquel Garrido and her husband Alexis Corbière were the victims of false accusations in a Point article which accused the couple of having exploited an undocumented employee. Le Point withdrew the article from its site and its director Etienne Gernelle acknowledged “mistakes and lapses in cautionand apologized to the two chosen ones. Its author Aziz Zemouri filed a complaint on Tuesday for “breach of trustagainst Jean-Christophe Lagarde and a policeman.
