Gas stocks filled to 90%, a reassuring level but insufficient to face the winter

DECRYPTION – Even at 100%, the reserves only cover a minority of French consumption over the period.

Once is not custom, this Thursday, August 25 opened with good news on the gas front. According to the European platform Aggregated Gas Storage Inventory (AGSI), France is ahead of its targets for filling its gas stocks, even though the said targets had been raised this year. The tanks are currently 90.06% full, according to the organization. This should make it possible to reach the 100% threshold on November 1, as requested exceptionally by the government to deal with the consequences of the war in Ukraine (usually the obligation on this date is limited to 85% of stocks).
