DECRYPTION – The entire fuel delivery supply chain needs to restart. To hasten the return to normal, the government is increasing the leeway for deliveries by truck.
The days go by and the number of unavailable service stations in France is decreasing at a snail’s pace. About 30% of the stations were unavailable this weekend, then another 28.1% on Monday. On Tuesday, the figure was down to 25%. “Thanks to the end of the conflict at Esso-ExxonMobilthanks to all the measures we have taken, we are now experiencing a significant improvement in the situation”, boasted Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne during the session of questions to the government at the National Assembly on Tuesday. The day before, Emmanuel Macron had expressed his annoyance at the too slow return to normal.
To show that the situation can quickly improve, the government holds up the example of Hauts-de-France, which regained 30 availability points in six days, with only 22.4% of stations lacking at least one fuel on Monday.
