Gaza: Russia calls on Hamas to release hostages

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia on Friday urged Hamas, from which it received a delegation in Moscow, to release the hostages it has been holding in the Gaza Strip, including three Russian nationals, since the attack on October 7 against Israel.

According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov spoke with Abu Marzouk, a member of the political bureau of Palestinian Hamas.

“During the exchange, emphasis was placed on the ongoing confrontation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone, against the backdrop of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip which has reached catastrophic proportions,” can -we read.

“The Russian side stressed the need to quickly release civilians captured during the attacks of October 7, 2023 and detained by Palestinian factions, including three Russian citizens.”
