GB: Contraction of 0.2% of GDP in the third quarter

LONDON, Nov 11 (Reuters) – Britain’s economy contracted 0.2% in the third quarter, a first estimate released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) showed on Friday.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected gross domestic product (GDP) to fall by 0.5% over the July-September period.

The Bank of England announced last week that the British economy risks a two-year-long recession if interest rates rise as much as investors anticipate. (William Schomberg, French version Laetitia Volga)
