  • GC wins 2-0 away in Lausanne in the 21st round of the Super League.
  • The Nigerian Francis Momoh makes himself the match winner with two goals.
  • Lausanne loses in the Super League for the 5th time in a row.

Francis Momoh has not featured as a goal scorer on duty in 9 appearances for GC in the Super League. In Lausanne the knot burst with the Nigerian. The 20-year-old striker scored both goals in Zurich’s deserved away win, the first of the second half of the season.

Lausanne was a good host. The 18-year-old central defender Karim Sow, who was partly to blame for both goals, learned the hard way.

  • 28 minutes: Sow loses sight of Momoh, who shoots in after a header from Dominik Schmid to make it 1-0 and celebrates his very first Super League goal.
  • 67 minutes: Sow’s bad pass in the construction proves to be fatal. About Hayao Kawabe and the substitute Li Lei, the ball comes back to Momoh, who is completely alone in the center and marks the 2-0.

The Vaudois weren’t very compelling in the third game under new coach Alain Casanova either. Offensive signs of life could only be seen shortly before the break. But Zeki Amdouni with a flick from the edge of the penalty area (43rd minute) and shortly afterwards Lamine Koné with a header (44th) missed good opportunities. It was fitting for Lausanne’s unsuccessful performance that Adrien Trébel was sent off in the 89th minute with a yellow card. Overall, the 6th defeat in a row, the 5th in a row in the Super League, was only logical.

With the exception of Momoh’s brilliant moments, the people of Zurich also owed a lot. But it was enough for a mandatory victory. The first full success in the second half of the season brings GC at the expense of Sion 6th place in the table at least until Sunday. A victory for Lucerne against the Valais would mean that Lausanne would take over the red lantern after this round.

This is how it goes

Both Lausanne and GC have difficult tasks ahead of them this weekend. The Waadtländer are guests in Basel on Saturday, the Zurich team will have to deal with champion YB on Sunday in the Letzigrund.
