GE: increases the efficiency of the NTPC power plant in Ramagundam

(CercleFinance.com) – GE Power India Limited (GEPIL) and its subsidiaries in consortium with NGSL announced today the significant results obtained within the framework of its project to refurbish and modernize the steam turbines of the Ramagundam superthermal power plant from NTPC. The plant is located in Ramagundam, in the state of Telangana in India.

This is NTPC’s first energy-saving steam turbine project. The teams set a new performance benchmark for the heat rate of these units.

The combined additional output of 20 MW generated by the two units will supply power to approximately 44,100 Indian homes. The reduction in CO2 emissions is equivalent to taking 141,200 cars off the road.

“Projects like these aim to increase power, efficiency and reliability while reducing emissions and will better position the country to meet future energy demands,” comments Prashant Jain, RGM – GE Steam Power and MD – GE Power India Limited.
