GE: working on LNG decarbonization with Shell

(CercleFinance.com) – GE Gas Power announces the signing of a development agreement with Shell Global Solutions, a pioneer in liquefied natural gas (LNG) to reduce the carbon intensity of Shell’s LNG supply projects in the whole world.

Indeed, with global LNG demand expected to nearly double by 2040, decarbonization is crucial to help the company meet the world’s growing energy needs.

The largest source of emissions at an LNG facility comes from the combustion of natural gas in power generation and mechanically driven gas turbines.

‘We are confident that our combined strengths of Shell, GE and Baker Hughes, which is an exclusive distributor of certain gas turbines and heavy duty services in the oil and gas segment, can accelerate the deployment of pragmatic and comprehensive solutions to capabilities of hydrogen in these gas turbine fleets, which would lead to a significant reduction in carbon emissions and water use on a global scale,” said John Intile, vice president of engineering at GE Gas Power.
