Gears of War E-Day could be released sooner than we think

On June 9, the busy Xbox Games Showcase ended in a bang with a trailer for Gears of War E-Day… but without a release date. However, it could be that it comes out sooner than you think.

The famous Gears 6 did not turn out to be a sequel, but a prequel to the first game released on Xbox 360 in 2006. Gears of War E-Day therefore intends to deliver a masterful graphic slap with gameplay that would be very different of his illustrious elders. But the question that burns on the lips of all fans remained unanswered: what about a release date? It was from the well-informed Tom Warren at The Verge that we received some details on this subject.

Gears of War E-Day: a machine already more oiled than you think?

With only a cinematic trailer, but apparently made using Unreal Engine 5 and assets taken directly from the game, the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 left us thinking that Gears of War E-Day was far from ready to emerge. No gameplay was presented, but it should be significantly different from previous games. More visceral, more “intimate”, this title placing its plot 14 years before the very first game intends to make us feel the primal fear of the Locust threat. With more advanced graphics than ever, the graphic slap in more than one way of a Drone therefore promises to be all the more masterful… when the game is released on PC, Xbox Series and Xbox Game Pass.

On this subject, Tom Warren had some pretty good news to share with fans in his latest newsletter. He would have heard from sources close to Microsoft that Gears of War E-Day could be released in 2025. Generally well informed, he also mentioned that Fable 4 could be released in the fourth quarter of 2025… after the new game from The Coalition!

In the absence of an official announcement for one or another highly anticipated Xbox exclusive, however, it is prudent to take these predictions with a grain of salt. But if these prove true, the year 2025 will be truly explosive for Microsoft’s gaming branch. In addition to these two iconic licenses, we will also see the release of DOOM The Dark Ages and South of Midnight, among others. A new Emergence for Xbox?
