Not content with delivering a solid Xbox Games Showcase last night, Microsoft is strengthening its ties with GeForce Now.
Through a blog post, the American giant has indeed announced that the catalog of NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service will soon welcome that of the PC Game Pass. A merger which is of course not without interest for Microsoft, in particular with regard to a certain buyout at 69 billion dollars.
PC Geforce Pass
After announcing that it wants to make Xbox exclusives available on GeForce Now, Microsoft is taking it to the next level with the NVIDIA service. Following a strong Xbox Games Showcase with big presentations like Starfield Or Phantom Libertythe Redmond company has made several announcements regarding the future of its gaming branch.
Among other things to remember, the one that interests us here is the fact that the PC Game Pass catalog will also be accessible on GeForce Now later this year. The whole catalog? Unfortunately, this is currently not planned.
This merger between Microsoft and NVIDIA will only concern ” some select PC Game Pass titles “. Sarah Bond, head of experience at Xbox and behind the announcement, did not provide further details on this subject.
A good point for the players… and especially for Microsoft?
In any case, it is an interesting initiative, allowing on paper GeForce Now to significantly expand its catalog and subscribers to try Xbox’s big PC titles, even if they have a machine lacking in power.
In view of Sarah Bond’s announcement, however, there is no question of the PC Game Pass and GeForce Now merging. We therefore do not know exactly how this rapprochement will take place. It is therefore likely that GeForce Now subscribers must also have a PC Game Pass subscription, and vice versa.
The biggest winner of the operation is ultimately Microsoft. Recall that he is currently waging a legal battle with the CMA, which blocked the takeover of Activision Blizzard on the grounds that it would harm competition in the UK cloud gaming market. A judgment which was not viewed favorably even by the players in the market concerned.
But it will probably take many other partnerships like that on the part of the American giant to tip the appeal of the CMA’s decision in its favor.
