The spearhead of the new range of NVIDIA graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 4090 no longer has much to do with the RTX 3090.
Expected at the turn, NVIDIA therefore confirmed the rumors by presenting the Ada Lovelace generation of its GeForces. The firm took the opportunity to detail a graphics card monster which will also be the first RTX 4000 to arrive.
3.5 PCI Express slots
Scheduled for October 12, the GeForce RTX 4090 will be, for more or less a month, the only representative of this new range, since the GeForce RTX 4080 16 GB and 12 GB will not be available before November, without more details.
However, the GeForce RTX 4090 should have no trouble “holding the ground”, both literally and figuratively. Indeed, a simple glance at the photos published by NVIDIA is enough to realize that the boxing card is in the “super heavyweight” category.
Initially, it takes the design of the RTX 3090, but NVIDIA has ” all redesigned » in the design of the various elements… to end up with a card that occupies no less than 4 PCI Express slots. It is more accurate to speak of three and a half, but difficult to “find the comma” in a PC.
76 billion transistors
NVIDIA was therefore forced to review its entire cooling system, although of course it still uses a vapor chamber and heat pipes. It must ensure the heat dissipation of the 24 GB of GDDR6X in addition to that of the GPU.
This GPU bears the reference AD102-300 and is distinguished by its 16,384 CUDA cores authorized by the integration of 76 billion transistors. It was decided to place only one power connector, this famous 16-pin port, to ensure the transport of the 450 W necessary.
