A subscription for AI… but not only that!
Let’s put our feet straight. Gemini Advanced is offered as part of the Google One AI Premium offer costing $20. Why a price in dollars and not in euros? We’re going to get there! For that price, you get access to Gemini Ultra 1.0, Google’s most advanced model… and that’s it, at least for now. Particularly anticipated is the promised integration with Google Workspace, which would allow Gemini to be integrated into applications such as Gmail, Google Docs and Google Slides.
This situation raises questions about Google’s strategy: why announce a product before all the features are operational? The most plausible theory is that Google is watching the majority of its competitors launch or simply enrich their paid offers and does not want to let the gap widen any longer. However, the giant assures that these features will be deployed soon… without giving a date or roadmap.

Google’s launch of Gemini Advanced isn’t just about an improved chatbot. As the name of the Google One AI Premium offer suggests, this $20 monthly subscription is not limited to access to the Gemini Ultra model. Subscribers also benefit from 2 TB of storage on Google Drive, a way to pass the pill while waiting for the missing features.
In addition to expanded storage, the subscription includes additional benefits found in the Google One offering such as premium Google Meet features, which include longer meetings and advanced presentation options, ideal for professionals and businesses. Subscribers also benefit from Dark Web Monitoring, a security feature that monitors and alerts users to any potential leaks of their personal data, and a VPN provided by Google, increasing online protection and privacy.
Still not available in Europe
The unavailability of Gemini Advanced in Europe constitutes a significant limitation to its immediate global adoption. Despite growing demand for advanced artificial intelligence solutions, the EU’s strict data protection and privacy regulations pose unique challenges for the deployment of such technologies.
The absence of Gemini Advanced in the European market highlights the growing gap between technological innovations (especially in the field of AI) and existing regulatory frameworks. While Google is working to make its services compliant with European standards, users are still waiting. As a reminder, more than a month passed between the deployment of Gemini in the United States and its availability in the European Union.
