WASHINGTON (Reuters) – General Motors on Tuesday announced the recall of 140,000 vehicles in North America due to fire risks.

The measure affects Chevrolet Bolt EV models from years 2017 to 2023.

The automaker said that, in rare cases, gases released when the front seat belt pretensioners are triggered in a crash could come into contact with carpet fibers and cause a fire.

About 120,000 vehicles are affected by the recall in the United States and 20,000 others in Canada.
