Genius: season 4 dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X

After Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso and Aretha Franklin, season 4 of “Genius” will look at the crossed destinies of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.

Called Genius: MLK / X, the anthology will follow the journey of these two civil rights activists in the United States, with diametrically opposed methods in their fight for racial and economic justice. On the one hand, Pastor Martin Luther King Jr. advocates non-violent activism, on the other, Malcolm X sets the crowds on fire with a tough speech on the self-determination of Blacks, and the denunciation of systemic racism within the American company.

The path of the two men will officially cross on March 26, 1964 during the debate in the Senate on civil rights. The series will be piloted by Raphael Jackson, Jr. and Damione Macedon, with Jeff Stetson writing the pilot. No casting information has been released at this time. Season 4 is expected on Disney+ by the end of 2022.

The official synopsis for the series: “As King advances racial equality through nonviolent protest, Malcolm X speaks out powerfully for Black empowerment, identity, and self-determination. Alongside their formidable wives, Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz, these two men have become synonymous with the civil rights era and the struggle for racial and economic justice. Although they only met once and often questioned each other’s views, their success was tied to each other.
