Genshin Impact has one of the largest fanbases in gaming history, but unfortunately there’s a price to pay for being such a large community. It is to include fringes of toxic and hateful players, who do not hesitate to spit vehement remarks on social networks, or in MP. The release of patch 3.0 and Sumeru characters will remain one of the darkest examples of this, when the English dubber of the character of Dori was harassed on her social networks.

Interpreting the character of Dori on Genshin Impact, Anjali Kunapaneni this Thursday preferred to close the private messages of her Twitter account, in the face of the resurgence of hate speech of which she had been the victim for several days. The cause of this brutal harassment? The revelation of a voiceline from Dori, on which the character sings of her love for moras (money on Genshin Impact, editor’s note).
Deemed “cringe” and “irritating” by part of the community, this little song earned Anjali Kunapaneni a wave of very aggressive private messages. The artist was therefore forced to cut her DMs until this shameful relentlessness stopped. Such behavior on the part of some players is all the more serious as it targets a real person, distinct from his character, and paid by MiHoyo to bring him to life.
Big fan support
Touched by the distress of Anjali Kunapaneni in the face of these haters, the Genshin Impact community showed their support for the interpreter. A shower of comforting messages have been written, whether on Twitter, Reddit or Facebook.
But this is not the first time that interpreters of the voices of Genshin Impact characters have suffered harassment from some players, unhappy with the dialogues of this or that character. In the past, the interpreter of Kokomi, for example, had received insults and even death threats in his DMs.
