As always as we approach the rollout of a new update on Genshin Impact, miHoYo, the Chinese studio in charge of its development, lifts the veil on several details so that players are ready when it arrives. At the end of December, the version 2.4 of Genshin Impact was presented to players via a stream, a few days before its arrival.
When is Genshin Impact update 2.4 released?
The information that most interests players is knowing when will the next Genshin Impact update be available. Know that we should be able to discover the version 2.4 of Genshin Impact and all its content (see below), from Wednesday 5 January, after a long maintenance. This date is not surprising, given that it corresponds to the six-week cycle that has spaced out game updates since its launch in September 2020.
Overview of the contents of Update 2.4
As for the novelties, we will have, as always, the right to a myriad of additions of all kinds. If you’re keen to see what will happen in early 2022, here’s what to expect:
- Two new characters with Shenhe (5 stars) and Yun Jin (4 stars). The first uses the Cryo element and a pole weapon, to become a strong support, and the second uses the Geo element and also wields a pole weapon.
- New zone, with Enkanomiya arriving as rumors indicated. It is an underwater island, which “floats at a great depth”. An artificial sun makes it possible to have a minimum of light, while new threats will appear.
- A new weapon and two new skins.
- Four new banners.
- A special event, the Lantern Festival, also allows you to face a new boss.
- Several improvements and optimizations on all platforms.

The Nintendo Switch version has still not been talked about, although it is still expected.
