“Geo-Quiz” with Sonja Zietlow: Show returns with a new name

Sonja Zietlow (56) and science journalist Dirk Steffens (56) are returning with their joint RTL show. “The big geo show – around the world in 55 questions” will become “Wonders of our Earth – The big geo quiz” in July, as the broadcaster has now announced. The show, which RTL will broadcast on July 20th and 27th at 8:15 p.m. (also on RTL+), will then be seen with a new focus.

Three celebrity duos will compete against each other in quiz and action rounds in the studio and discover “the wonders of our planet,” the announcement explains. “In spectacular categories, they will quiz each other on fascinating topics from the big wide world – from extraordinary animal worlds to extreme places, natural wonders and everything that makes our earth so unique,” it continues.

The six categories are called “Best Buddies,” “Hard to Believe,” and “Superheroes,” among others. The duos don’t know what exactly is behind the names. The quiz rounds are accompanied by games, experiments, and puzzles. The celebrities can win up to 30,000 euros for a good cause per show.

The show is hosted by Sonja Zietlow, with science expert Dirk Steffens at her side. The celebrity pairings in the first show are: Ilka Bessin (52) and Sasha (52), Tom Beck (46) and Motsi Mabuse (43) and Michael “Mimi” Kraus (40) and Matthias Steiner (41).

Last year, “The Great Geo Show – Around the World in 55 Questions” ran under a different principle: five stars each dedicated themselves to a project in different countries on different continents to learn more about the world. They then brought their knowledge about nature, animals and people as experts on a continent to the studio in quiz rounds. The winner received prize money for one of the special projects.
