Ex- “Lindenstrasse” star Georg Uecker shines on the red carpet at the premiere of the musical “Ku’damm”.

Reunion with Georg Uecker (59): The former “Lindenstrasse” star walked the red carpet in the Theater des Westens beaming with joy at the premiere of the musical “Ku’damm” on Sunday in Berlin. The 59-year-old has recently appeared in the flashlight thunderstorm again. He also didn’t miss the premiere of the movie comedy “It’s just a phase, Hase” and the presentation of the German Television Prize in Cologne in September. And he visibly enjoyed the public appearance at the Salzburg Festival.

HIV and cancer diagnosis

Georg Uecker became known for his role in the cult series “Lindenstrasse” (1985-2020). From episode six he was seen with a break of several years from 1986 to 1991 and from 1995 to 2020 as the gay doctor Carsten Flöter.

In the summer of 2016, Uecker confirmed that he had been HIV positive for at least 25 years. “The fact is that I am HIV-positive,” he said in an interview with “Schwulissimo” magazine. He suspects that he has been infected with the virus for more than 30 years, but has definitely known for 25 years. “Thanks to the pharmaceutical industry and a positive outlook on life in every respect”, he is now doing well, as Uecker said in the interview. He was “completely fit and determined to be a shrill age,” he added.

At the beginning of 2018, the actor made his cancer disease public in his autobiography “I’ll go ahead.” In the spring of 1993 he was not only diagnosed with HIV, but at the same time the doctors told him that he had cancer. Five years later, the disease was defeated: “I’ve been cancer-free for 25 years,” it says in his book.

Triple coming out

For a long time, the actor decided against speaking publicly about these topics: “I never kept it a secret,” said Uecker once in an interview with spot on news. “I dealt with it openly, but not in public. My family, friends and colleagues knew about it. As a public person, however, you obviously always have to do everything twice and three times. I also came out privately as a gay man, one as Carsten Flöter according to the script, followed by the third public coming out. “
