Major events have been happening in the UK since the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022, which took place just weeks after her Platinum Jubilee celebrating 70 years in power. Next May, it will be the turn of his eldest son Charles to be crowned duringa grandiose ceremony which already raises many questions because of the fracture that has been created within the royal family. But if the whole world seems fascinated by the cold war between Prince William and his brother Prince Harry, some family members are, fortunately, rather indifferent.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children have other things on their minds, including enjoying the time spent with their grandfather. King Charles III is indeed close to his grandchildren and in particular Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. According to historian Robert Hardman who spoke with Charles III and his comments to the Daily Mail, the children even decked him out witha special nickname : “Grandpa Wales”, which can be translated as “Grandpa Wales“. Indeed before being king, Charles was Prince of Wales for many years, a title which was passed on to his eldest son William on the Queen’s death.
A nod to Queen Elizabeth II
THE DailyMail specifies that this nickname is also a nod to how Queen Elizabeth II herself called her grandfather King George V “Grandpa England”, “Grandpa England”. A nice parallel to several generations apart which once again underlines the strength of traditions within the royal family. A family that remains fractured and whose next reunion, which will take place at the coronation of King Charles III, could be decisive as to the future relationship that will unite Prince Harry with the rest of his family.
