George Clooney had a serious motorcycle accident three years ago. Now he speaks openly about the incident like never before – and criticizes it.

George Clooney (60) was on his motorcycle on the set of his “Catch 22” series in Sardinia on July 10, 2018 when he crashed head-on into a car. The Mercedes had turned surprisingly, Clooney could no longer brake and hit his head with full force against the windshield of the vehicle. In an interview, the actor spoke openly about the accident like never before – and criticized passers-by who filmed him instead of helping him.

Clooney spoke to the “Sunday Times” about his new directorial work, “The Tender Bar” (in German cinemas from January 7, 2022), and about his 60th birthday in May. The conversation also turned to the accident. The actor believed at the time that his last moment had come. “I was waiting for my switch to be turned off”.

Clooney wanted to shake the gawkers

The filmmaker becomes clear against the passers-by who saw the accident – and immediately began to film. “When you are in public, you find that for some people it’s just entertainment for their Facebook page when you are down and think it’s the last minute of your life”. Clooney would have loved to grab and shake every single gawker when he was lying there injured.

Better old than dead

His wife, Amal Alamuddin Clooney, 43, banned the star from riding a motorcycle after the accident, and he is sticking to it. By confronting death, Clooney learned to appreciate life better. To be 60 years old is “a catastrophe”. But the alternative would be death. He is looking forward to the next 20 years.
