Netflix has reportedly secured three Hollywood stars for a new production. As the industry magazine “Deadline” reports, George Clooney (62) and Adam Sandler (57) will be in front of the camera together for the first time. The as-yet-untitled film will also be directed by Noah Baumbach (54), who was jointly responsible for the huge success of “Barbie” this year.

Baumbach wrote the script for the cinema hit with his partner and “Barbie” director Greta Gerwig (40), which is the most successful film of 2023 at the box office with more than 1.4 billion US dollars grossed. For the new Netflix project he allegedly worked on the script with Emily Mortimer (52). Baumbach, Amy Pascal (65) and David Heyman (62) are also said to be the producers of the Netflix film.

Coming-of-age drama about adults

So far, little is known about the content of the film. “Deadline” describes the plot as a coming-of-age film about adults, with funny and emotional elements. However, the streaming giant has not yet made an official statement about the report.

Baumbach currently has an exclusive contract with Netflix. He already directed “The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)” with Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller (58) and Emma Thompson (64). He also shot the marital drama “Marriage Story” with Adam Driver (40), Scarlett Johansson (39) and Laura Dern (56), which was nominated for six Oscars, for the streaming service. Baumbach’s last Netflix film to date was “White Noise” with Driver and Gerwig.
