The actor “totally screwed up” the Batman role
George Clooney doesn’t like to think back to his time as Batman: Now he joked about how much he screwed up this commitment.
George Clooney (60) doesn’t like to think back to his superhero days. During an event in New York for his new film “The Tender Bar”, the Hollywood star spoke about his appearance as Batman, as reported by “People”. He embodied the cult figure in 1997 in “Batman & Robin”.
When asked about the difference between roles in blockbuster films and character-oriented films, Clooney joked, “I made a superhero movie and I screwed it up so much they wouldn’t let me near the set.” The work he was attached to, Clooney went on, was the kind of film “I grew up with in the 1960s and 1970s, which was the best time for American filmmaking.”
That’s how Batman influenced him
The actor finished with bat nipples, as he also smiled. Clooney said in an interview with Howard Stern (67) last year that he had advised Ben Affleck (49) not to wear nipples on the Batman suit. Affleck first played the character in 2016 in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Clooney had already made negative comments about “Batman & Robin” in other interviews. Among other things, he explained that his wife Amal (43) and their twins Alexander and Ella (4) should not see the strip. In 2019, Clooney told “The Hollywood Reporter”that his “failures” in “Batman & Robin” influenced the way he made career decisions. “I wasn’t good at it, it wasn’t a good movie,” he said at the time, adding, “I learned from that failure that I had to relearn how to work. I was no longer just an actor playing a role I was blamed for the film. “
