George R.R. Martin used a new blog post to share good news about The Winds of Winter.

As long as George R.R. Martin (72) is already sitting on the latest novel from his "Game of Thrones" universe, you could almost think that the author is writing a "Neverending Story". Since 2010 he has been writing the penultimate part called "The Winds of Winter", while the series adaptation was completed in 2019. On his blog "Not A Blog" Martin has once again given an update to his book. That, as one would expect from Martin, comes across as bitter-sweet.

Plenty of time to write

Last year he was able to write "hundreds and hundreds of pages of 'The Winds of Winter'". It's been the best year he's had with the novel since he started – maybe thanks to the lockdown? "Why? I don't know. Maybe because of the isolation. Or I just had a run," muses Martin.

Trolls and Trump

In any case, he no longer wants to make a prognosis as to when "The Winds of Winter" is to be expected – for good reason: "Whenever I did that, asses came along on the Internet and understood it as a 'promise' and then waited for it crucify me when I miss the deadline. "

In his blog entry, however, Martin does not only account for Internet trolls. Even with the elected US President Donald Trump (74), he is tough. The fact that he was able to write so many pages on "The Winds of Winter" was only the twofold news for him in 2020: "At least we got rid of Trump. (…) He walked in a disgusting way, of course. So, how he came. And how he reigned. What a vile, disgusting man. "
